Sinadya sa Halaran Festival

The Sinadya sa Halaran Festival is the joint festival of the City of Roxas and the Province of Capiz. It is a mixed festival in that it is celebrated for both cultural and religious reasons. It is celebrated every first weekend of December in commemoration of the Feast of the Virgin of the Immaculate Concepcion who also happens to be the patroness of the City of Roxas. Sinadya sa Halaran boasts of colorful activities like the grand parade of festivals, the fluvial parade, the lighted river floaters. There is also the traditional seafood festival and the grand pyrotechnic display.

Sinadya sa Halaran -is one of Roxas City’s most important annual events and is fusion of two festivals – “Sinadya” (City) and “Halaran” (Province) which literally means joy in sharing and thanksgiving. It is celebrated on December 4-8 to commemorate the religious activities that embody the true Capiceño spirit. The highlights of the celebration are the Dancing Parade, ”Higantes”, Fluvial Parade, Fireworks display, Mutya sa Halaran beauty pageant, Coronation of the Fiesta Queen, and Agri-Aqua Trade Fair.

The proudly Halaran Festival here in Roxas City in this 2008 is not very enjoyable but a great success. People did not more enjoy the festival because of the heavy rain during the day of celebration even if it is happen the event is still going on. There was my experience during the Sinadya sa halaran 2008. I am computer Specialist of one of best school in Roxas the AMA Computer Learning Center and it is our honor to become the official tabulator of the Mutya sa Sinadya sa Halaran 2008 so I was there at the CAP Auditorium and witness the happening of the Mutya. Mutya sa Sinadya sa Halaran is a beauty contest for the beautiful ladies from different Municipalities in whole province of Capiz, I am very that I've been there to witness the talent and knowledge of the real Capizeña and also I proud to the success of that event.

I didn't see the other event happen during the Halaran Festival another Big event happen that I've been witness is The Dream Fight of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar de la Hoya, it is included to the event of the Sinadya it is because the date of the fight and the date of the said festivals is the same so the government of Capiz provide a free live showing of the fight in the big screen of the Filipino Pride Manny Paquiao at the Capiz Gymnasium many Capizeño got there and witness the fight of Pacman and I was there also with my friends I've noticed that the Gymnasium was full of people inside so instead in joining them I was suggested to my friends to watch outside the Gym. People of Capiz don't stop shouting in every round because Pacman show his ability in boxing against Oscar specially when Oscar surrender the fight Capizeño are very proud to the peoples champ and a proud of the Filipino and also they are very thankful to the government official of Capiz for giving a Live showing fight to the Capizeño.

Some events I've heard and see are the Street Dancing and Parade of the Participated Schools, Municipalities and some known participants, the Firework Display, Some Local Bands jam at night, The procession of the Immaculate Conception and the Performance of a Sandwich Band even having a heavy rain. I also see the highlight of the Sinadya sa Halaran festival in one of the best Kapamilya show in "MAG TV na AMIGA". This is the prove that Capizeños are very challenger in all of the challenge in their life "Lupad Capiz".
